Asus has recently announced its new tablet: the Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201. One of the key components of this table is its detachable keyboard. Although many tablets have separate keyboards available for sale, the Transformer Prime is one of the first to be promoted almost exclusively with the keyboard attached, which also features a track pad.
While the device is not yet available for sale in the U.S., it has managed to secure some attention due to its extremely long batter life (18 hours), ultra wide 178 degree viewing angle, MicroSD Card Reader, HDMI port, 8G Webstorage space, and 8 megapixel camera.
Although the tablet will be shipped with Honeycomb OS, it will be Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable, which will give the tablet a sleek clean look and access to a variety of innovative features. The tablet will also feature some great pre-installed applications including SuperNote a note taking app that allows users to take notes through finger input, photo capture, or audio input. The Transformer Prime will also ship with Polaris Office 3.0, which will allow users to edit Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel files.
Although the Transformer Prime seems like a great tablet, time will only tell if it will be able to take market share away from the all powerful iPad 2.
