The early history of AI was marked by cycles of enthusiasm, hype, disappointment, and abandonment. The current generation of AI technology appears to have staying power, with real applications solving real-world problems. Companies with realistic expectations of AI technology and a well-designed strategy will find themselves in a good position to remain (or become) competitive in their markets. Organizations still “on the fence” may regret not moving forward earlier.
